Anet recently posted a few articles on guild halls; a feature coming out with the Heart of Thorns expansion. I’ll summarize some of the new features being added:

  • The guild can have a guild hall on one of 2 maps: the Lost Precipice and Guilded Hollow. The former is a canyon with waterfalls, rope bridges, and gliding spots, while the latter is an underground ruin of an abandoned Exalted city.
  • Only one guild hall can be active at a time, but upgrades will transfer if we decide to change maps. Which map we take will be decided by a guild poll when more information is available.
  • Unlocking the guild hall requires registering with the Guild Initiative, an organization that will be in Lion’s Arch by the next update. Information on the specifics is limited right now, but it sounds like we’ll have to do a number of missions for them, eventually culminating in clearing out mordrem from the guild hall map.
  • The guild hall will have buildings devoted to all types of games modes; including social, competitive and economic. Example buildings are the tavern, the arena, and the war room.
  • There’s a tavern upgrade that allows us to have our own guild anthem!
  • The arena allows for large skirmishes among guild members, while the war room allows for WvW upgrades, including one that allows us to send an airship to defend Stonemist!
  • A new profession called Scribe allows the construction of guild-related items (like banners) and decorations for the guild halls. Being able to decorate the guild hall requires an “architect” permission that the guild leader can assign to different ranks.

In addition to adding the guild halls, the way guilds work in general will be updated:

  • Merits are going away entirely, and influence will be repurposed.
  • Research levels are going away, but there will be bonus decorations for guilds that managed to max them out.
  • Favor is a new resource that is earned by completed weekly guild missions
  • Aetherium is a new resource that is mined over time from the guild hall. Upgrades are available to speed aetherium production.
  • Resonance is a new resource earned by completing group events with guildies. It is used to speed up upgrades and item production.
  • Influence will no longer be able to be earned, but leftover influence from before the update can still be used. Once/day it can be exchanged for favor or aetherium, and at any time can be exchanged for resonance.
  • You will also be able to view multiple guild chats after the update. This will be a huge help for all our guildies that are in multiple guilds.
